Saint Luke the Confessor (Voyno-Yasenetsky) and the Righteous Passion-Bearer Yevgeny Botkin in the Icons of St Petersburg Masters Mikhail Seletsky and Yuri FilippovAbstractThe article considers for the first time the icons of the holy doctors Luke of Crimea and Yevgeny Botkin, created by St Petersburg icon painters Yury Filippov and Mikhail Seletsky. The brief description of the artists’ work is given. Taking into account the specifics of the saints’ medical activities, the analysis of the genre and artistic features of the icons was carried out. Using the example of the artistic decoration of St Petersburg Church of the Great-Martyr and Unmercenary Healer Panteleimon, the question of need for icons to correspond to the semantic and stylistic content of the church and its decoration is raised.
