St Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts

Abstract

This article is a study of the postmodernist aesthetics in the works of Belgian artist Marcel Broodthaers. The text reflects the analysis of some of the artist’s works and compares them with some ideas and concepts of postmodernist philosophers and thinkers. The article offers a detailed consideration of such concepts as sign, intertextuality, irony and hyperreality in the context of Broodthaers’ conceptual art.
