Metaphors in the Focus of Aesthetics

Abstract

The article describes the contours of the aesthetic theory of the metaphorical trope, focuses on the structural and sensory-semantic aspect of the image. A metaphorical image is defined as discrete, temporal, close to the style of cinema. The metaphor has a visuality (Paul Ricœur), which is interpreted quite broadly in the article as the sensual certainty of the image – its physicality. A metaphor can be perceived not only visually, but also with the help of touch, smell, etc., having a full range of sensory-figurative expression, as a result of which the aesthetic experience of perceiving a metaphor can be designated as psychosomatic.
